Gridfall Command

★★★★★ 4.5 Editor rating

Gridfall Command is the kind of strategy game I keep recommending to friends who think RTS can't work on a phone. It splits the map into hex zones and asks you to hold chokepoints, cut supply lines, and out-position the enemy rather than just build the biggest stack. Matches run around fifteen minutes, which is the sweet spot for me.

The interface is where it wins. Unit orders are one tap, formations are a swipe, and there's a slow-motion planning mode when things get hectic. I never felt like I lost a match because the controls fought me, which is more than I can say for a lot of mobile strategy.

There's a solid single-player campaign and skirmish mode, so you're not forced online if you don't want to be. The AI actually flanks you, too.
