Stellar Shift TD: The Opening That Carried Me Through

May 4, 2026 · Miriam Kellner

Stellar Shift TD looks like a normal tower defence until the gravity mechanic bends your whole plan out of shape. The towers don't just shoot; they pull enemies off their paths. Once that clicks, you stop building mazes and start building funnels.

My mistake for the first dozen maps was treating gravity towers as support. They're not — they're the core. Place two early pulls to route the wave into a tight lane, then let a couple of damage towers clean up the traffic jam.

The wave preview is your best friend. Check what's coming, and if the mix includes fast units, prioritise routing over damage. Fast enemies punish gaps in your funnel far more than slow ones.

Once I built around gravity instead of firepower, the difficulty curve flattened out. It's still my favourite TD of the year, and the mechanic is the reason.
