Stellar Shift TD
Stellar Shift TD is the tower defence game I've spent the most time with this year. The twist is gravity: your towers don't just shoot, they bend the paths enemies take, so a well-placed pull can funnel a whole wave into your line of fire. It turns the usual maze-building into something genuinely new.
Managing towers on a phone is smooth. You drag to place, tap to upgrade, and a long-press brings up targeting priorities without cluttering the screen. The wave previews let you plan ahead, which is exactly what a good TD needs. Later maps got hard enough that I had to rethink my whole opening — in a good way.
My one tip: don't overinvest in damage early. Gravity towers that reroute enemies pay off far more than raw firepower once the waves start mixing types. This became a full article on the site, and it's still my favourite of the genre right now.
What we liked
- Gravity mechanic that reinvents pathing
- Drag-and-drop tower management done right
- Deep enough to plan whole strategies around
