Tilt or Touch: What Actually Works for Mobile Racers
Every mobile racer ships with tilt and touch options, and the default is rarely the best one. I spent a weekend running the same tracks in Nitro Driftline with both to settle it for myself.
Tilt feels immersive for about two corners, then the constant micro-adjustments wear on you, especially if you're playing while moving. It's great for a demo and tiring for a session.
Touch controls, when designed well, keep your thumbs anchored and your inputs precise. In Nitro Driftline the drift button doubling as handbrake and boost was the deciding factor — everything lives under one thumb.
My advice: give touch a real chance even if tilt feels more natural at first. Precision beats immersion when you're chasing lap times.
